I don't think he did.
It's still there and he probably masked it when he did the coating.

he did change the chrome one to black/red emblem

Tape around it w/ blue painter's tape and place the loose edges of your tape border behind the emblem to protect anything you don't want painted.

no downside... just need to keep em clean.. also find a pro to polish them... someone that specializes in motorcycles and show cars.
