Had this warning light come on for the first time this morning. Car has now done 39k miles and I had the gearbox oil changed 5k miles ago. The message said the car could be driven with limited functionality but not sure what this gives me as it seems to be behaving OK at the moment. Can't get the car in to my local dealer for two weeks so waiting for Audi Assistance to come to my office to diagnose what it could be. I know in the past there have been some faulty mechatronic boards that have had to be replaced. Anyone experience this issue over the past few months, curious to see if there are any common faults with this, Many thanks!

Have Audi looking at my car at the moment, fault code logged a mechanical problem with the second gear (STronic gearbox) which is fixable with a software patch. So he is just installing it now. Word of warning for any diesel owners out there, the service guy said that after you have the gearbox oil changed at 38000 miles, mine was done at 34000, he has heard of other cars having similar problems to mine. Not sure what the issue is, but emptying the gearbox of oil and filling up again doesn't seem to go down too well with the transmission. Strange problem but at least he can fix it now rather than me have to wait two weeks to get it into my local dealer!

I'm not sure this patch will fix it. Seems like a standard per procedure action. Apply the patch first and see what happens. I've heard people come back with the same problem after being patched.
