Has anyone hard wired a radar detector in an A7? If so, how did you do it, where did you mount it? Pictures? I'm thinking of doing this where I can easily remove it and use it in another vehicle. Am considering the Escort 9500ix as the detector of choice.

A windshield mount detector is no-brainier install, shouldn't take more than 2 hours. Any average installer can do it.
You want it high in the windshield, make sure it has a clean line of sight to the rear window.
Have fun, safe driving.

Hard-wired my 9500ix -- it's a piece of cake. Find an unused switched fuse, run the cable under the weather stripping on the A pillar, across the roof liner, down the windshield behind the rearview mirror. Took less than an hour. The hardest part was finding a good ground and, once found, loosening and tightening the nut to hold the wire in place.

Thanks guys,
Jerry, sorry I missed your original thread when searching - very thorough indeed!
I haven't figured out the way I'd like to do it, but mounting it high inside the windshield is my preference at the moment since I'm inclined to want to take it with me (Feckman, sounds like that's what you've done). That being said, I'm going to give it a few weeks to keep the ideas coming without rushing into doing something that's not exactly what I want.

Which switched fuse did you use?
Thanks!
Paul
