The new 650i coupe looks a LOT better in person than in pics. Almost an Aston Martin feel- esp in dark color . I was shocked. The drop top version loses the beautiful lines, as is usual with cabs ( compare S5 coupe vs its cab ) .
I would chose the 6 series Gran Coupe over the " one sausage cut to different lengths " -looking 5 or 7 series sedan if I were shopping the larger 4 door Bimmer sedans , but as with the MBZ CLS, it depends on the size/height of rear seat passengers frequently carried.

+1! With you!

Read an article last night (which I can't find at the moment) suggesting the starting price for the BMW would be north of $75,000. Hardly an A7 killer.

Interesting that the 6GC is a 5-passenger vehicle ... there's actually a lap belt on the hump between the rear seats, so that the unfortunate person sitting there would have one foot to the left of the center tunnel and one to the right ... yet for any of us with kids (and their friends) it would be nice to have that "emergency" 5th seat when you really need it. Is the A7 really going to offer that as an option? I hadn't seen that anywhere before.

I believe the 5th seat on the A7 is now standard on the 2012 model and you can specify the 4 seats as an option if you prefer.

I wonder if that is true for U.S. cars as we are in what is considered 2012 models now. At any rate, I'll be wondering at some point if there will be a retro fit. It is the one thing I don't like about the "open box" look in the back seat now. It just seems an odd look vs. the rest of a very nice interior.

In the UK. Has not made it to the US yet afaik.

BMW describe the 6 as a 4+1
