I have another idea I will try next year -- using a SIM from a 3G iPad. I want to put the AT&T iPad micro-SIM into an adapter and see if that would work with the A7. Then I could swap it back and forth as needed.

Had anyone else tried this?
This is an interesting option ! Did you try it ? Did it work ?

I also read somewhere that Audi Connect will also work via bluetooth and use your phone plan IF the phone supports the remote SIM Access Profile for Bluetooth...that might be a more convenient option - don't need to pay/manage a dedicated SIM for the car.

If you are in North America, there is no RSAP for tethering Audi Connect from your phone. It may be possible in ROW.

Thanks - yes, am in Northern California, so no rSAP for me.

I've never seen it work since I bought the 2014 A6 used so I wanted to check it out to see if it was worth it - I can find a friend who is a T-Mobile subscriber and plug in his SIM to see what the 30$/month gives you.

I think I will do that before I try the AT&T 3G IPAD SIM thing.

Anyone tried adding their Audi to their phone's data plans in ATT, etc?
My 6 months are coming up and will also be looking for options

For those with MY2014 or later there are reports of those using AT&T 3G sims from their existing plans. Keep in mind though, if you have a MY2012 or 2013, AT&T would only provide 2G speeds.

This might be a dumb question, but can't you get some sort of a Family planned with shared data and just pop one of the sim cards into your Audi MMI rather than a phone?

Yes but with the caveat of carrier frequency compatibility.

Correct. I added my 2014 A7 to my AT&T family share plan for only $10/mo. I get full 3G service.
