Default new remote/key fob question

hi guys...just left the mercedes world for the audi world. 2012 A7, i only got 1 key. found that i can buy an uncut fob/blade online with matching FCC ID but i'm trying to verify that the dealer can then program? on my BMW's i tried to buy a 'used' key once and those are VIN specific.

Looking to know if i buy this 'empty' key that matches my existing key FCC ID if i can then go to the dealer and they can program.

Thanks so much

It is possible to reprogram it, but most dealers will only program a key that you buy from them.
