After a good year with the S4, made the decision to replace it with an A7. Wanted a little more luxury, utility, and style which the A7 offers in spades. Ordered the following:

* Premium Plus
* Special order color - Shiraz Red Metallic
* Velvet Beige / Dark Carpet
* Layered Oak Wood Inlays (now available in the US for 2013)
* 20" Sport Package
* Side Assist
* 3-seats for rear (also now available)

what is the wait time for an A7?

Test drove an A7 Prestige with 20" Sport Package...and despite the well-documented ride quality discussions here, I still found it smoother than the S4. The roads in SF don't hide much!

A production week has yet to be assigned, but I expect the special order color to add about 6 weeks to the timeline.

Congrats! Doing the same thing, hopefully taking delivery late next week. The S4 lasted less than 6 months. In the end it was a bit too similar to all the normal A4s on the road (here in Sweden they are as common as your regular Ford in the states) and the performance was not as accessible as the performance of the 245 diesel during every day driving.

Really looking forward to the A7!

Congrats to both. You'll HATE the wait! I'm interested to see the new red. I haven't hear of it before??

Congrats! The waiting is definitely tough. My car arrived in the US 3 weeks early, but ended up sitting in Houston for two weeks and actually arrived a day late. Anticipation, excitement, joy, only to be disappointed with the late arrival.

The wait WAS worth it, however. Amazing car.

Garnet is still the shade of red being offered on the A7; Shiraz Red Metallic was a special order color. It is a standard metallic color on both the A1 and A5 models in Europe.

SF is tough on a car. I went for the A7 for the same reasons. Mine won't be here until August.
