Default Outta gas..

Did the stupid thing of having the car die on me as I was approaching the gas station to fill up.
Now i feel like it's not as spritely and my MPG's appear lower on my morning commute. I'm 99.9% certain it's just in my head, and due to morning temps having just dropped to freezing, and possibly even that gas may have been switched to a winter blend.
Curious to hear others' perspectives..are these cars that sensitive to hitting the bottom of the fuel tank or is this likely just my imagination/due to unrelated factors? I always use Shell 93.

I vote for a big dose of winter blend fuel. Usually it takes a couple of blended tanks before you have a full tank.

You can also do a quik scan with VCDS and see if you set any faults from mis-fires, etc...

Almost all fuel at the gas station contains a blend of ethanol. In the olden days we used to put a bottle of HEAT in the gas tank every fill up in the winter. HEAT is ethanol. Ethanol absorbs water(not a scientific description but I'm not a chemist). In other words any small amount water that might be in modern fuel is absorbed and burned. So no water floating on top of the fuel like we had in days gone by. You should be fine.

Thanks...i was just being paranoid about the possibility of residue being sucked from the bottom of the tank and clogging up the fuel filter. And those filters don't have replacement intervals.
