As I understand it, Audi is only going to ship about 900 S6's in 2013 to North America, and 600 S7s.. How many RS7's? 100?

Anyway....my 2 cents.
As an S7 owner, I have no interest in the RS7 - more money and speed than I need - but I think its a great addition to the lineup. I think Audi is concerned with mind share as a strategy to growing market share right now. The RS7 will get plenty of coverage, and take it straight to the M5 mindset. They're in a 2-front perception battle: Mercedes on the luxury front, BMW on the performance front. This helps close loop on establishing Audi, across the board, as the new ultimate driving machine.

$100k is a bargain for what you are getting here. As far as other options, what is there? I can think of 4 cars....E63, Jag XFR-S, BMW M5 and M6 Gran Coupe. That's it. The Merc is the only one with AWD, which is definitely a benefit at this power level.

You forgot Panamera

Which makes the $100k Pricetag seem like fantastic value

The comparably powered Panamera is the Turbo S which costs $175k. It is in a league of its own.

Panny Turbo is pretty close on performance

But nowhere close on $150k pricetag

Reminds us once again that Audi's value proposition is certainly quite attractive

Cls 63 with or without PP package is a serious leader in those you mentioned..and they're suppose to release the awd option for 2014.

My buddy is a BMW bigot and said he would never buy an Audi. Test drove the 650 and was unimpressed with the lag and the steering. Drove an A7 and began warming up to the Audi. In the end he ordered a S7 and was glad to save $20k

$100K is being modest, at best—The S7 goes for what… $90K fully loaded? If you're using AWD as a delineating factor, than yes it's almost in a class of its own. I’d much rather have an M5, M6 GC, CLS 63, Panny 4S, Quattroporte, etc…. Just to rattle off a few.
