I hope that the U.S. models are also equipped with the start-stop systems(given the fact that you guys don't have S-tronic and Sport-Differentials and some brakes that are available on European models...MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA), otherwise, I am talking out of my a$$.
It is a fact, that in my town where you can't drive more than 500 Meters without hitting a red light. It is annoying to use that system in here, so I usually turn it off. When I turn it off, because I want to, it's OK, but when it doesn't work...that's a problem.
I get no warning lights, or messages, but even with my seat-belt on, today it didn't work. Whenever I press the brake harder(after stopping the car), it just shows the A crossed by a line in the dashboard(just like it does when I deactivate it). Yesterday and before that, when I pressed the brake harder, it just stopped the engine and turned it back on when I got my foot off the pedal...just like it should.
ANy info?

Well, yes but you have the posibillity to get a European spec A7 straight from the factory in Germany!
So for those of you who have Start-Stop, the problem was in the AC! It turns out, you have to have the Air Condition on Auto!

Several of the 2013 US models will now come with this Stop-Start "feature" as standard including the A6, A7 and A8. Doesn't appear to be on the S models, A3, A4 and Q series according to the 5/16/12 2013 order sheet.

I have the A7 here in UK and the engine Start-Stop system is standard equipment.
I personally don't like it, as in town with the numerous set of traffic lights and simply heavy traffic, the engine stops then starts each time and I feel not in control.
However that said - When starting the car I automatically press the switch OFF (it indicates with a light).
So not really a problem nor an issue - just prefer it wasn't there at all.

Good news for U.S. 2013 A6/A7 owners who may not care for the new engine "Stop/Start" system. I just received some clarification on the feature and according to my source at AOA, the system will not only be defeatable via a button on the dash but the car will remember the last setting alleviating the need to turn it off each time you start the engine.
Apparently, customer feedback and the lack of federal government emission standards addressing start/stop has prompted Audi to revise need to constantly deactivate it.
