I just noticed an article in a Swedish car magazine on this (http://www.teknikensvarld.se/2013/03...ya-audi-bilar/, it's in Swedish but you can try to translate it with google).
Basically it is saying that Audi is aware of the issue, it is related to electromechanical steering, but they don't have a fix at the moment although one is under development.
Apparently the issue is most likely to occure when it is cold, around 32-40F degrees
