To UW RL - It took them about 3 hours to do the A7 tints and that panel comes out in 2 seconds - ther are two spring-loaded pins on each side that allow you to pop it off and then the other piece of the shelf just pops off.
Sherold - I had that done at Shaded Days up in Lake Bluff. I've had three or four cars tinted there. I have heard good things about Umbra in Schaumburg as well. Good luck.

Are you referring to the piece that's directly below the rear glass that are held by 4 "attachments"?

Yes - the piece that stays on the hatch door comes off with two ***** on each side. They are spring loaded and the two other tabs in the lower window are just that - tabs that pop into a little slot. Pull on the ***** and the whole thing drops out.

Awesome. This picture was the deciding factor in getting the same tint. 3M 35% tint all around. Have to admit, the car looks great.
On another note, I had to drive through the suburbs of Seattle (home of the famous Microsoft) to get to the tinting place. I saw 4 A7s in that vicinity. 2 White, 1 slate, 1 black! A7s are getting popular around here!
