Did everyone here who ordered a car initially plan on ordering or was a car to your liking not available for a trade between dealers in the US?

My A6 was the latter, A7 the former. If you've got the time & patience ordering the exact specs makes sense since inventories are often tight, leaving your exact wants unavailable until built.

I wanted a 2013 model and the configuration I wanted was far from
anything a dealer would carry so I ordered.
No regrets and only had to wait two months.

There were some nice cars available but it seems like I always need to order everything I buy. I found that the Quartz grey looked amazing with they grey seats and the Fine Grain Ash. Most people don't order grey interiors. I never have. My dealer had one and they told me that it was the only one in the US with that combination. Unfortunately it didn't have the right options on it so I ordered one.
