Default Trans problem

Hi everyone i have an 2012 audi a7 prestige. The car only has 48k miles, the vechile has warranty. Yesterday i was picking up food around 10:30 p.m. I shut the vechile off to go inside and grab the food, after picking up the food and walking to my car. i started the vechile and it started perfectly fine, while in idel putting the car into reverse. A sensor came up saying transmisson. The car wouldnt reverse, so i put the vechile back into park and told myself whats the problem now. After putting the vechile in park i shut the car off and waited about 30 seconds for the to car to reset. I started the vechile and the sensor went away. Started the car this morning and no senor appeared on the dash. I called the audi delaer ship this morning and they told me that it had to do with the trans getting to hot and it triggered the sensor, for the sensor to show on the dash, but then again the vechile was sitting for a good 20-30 min for me to start it again while i was inside picking up the food and it was raining and temp was about 46 degress outside. What may cause this problem? Is this a long run problem or is my transmisson going bad?

It can be a number of things. Whatever has caused the error warning is recorded in the memory of the car. Get the dealership to run a diagnostics test, check the error code that triggered the warning and fix it. There is no way they can diagnose this on the phone, the best they can do is an educated guess!
