otherwise, take the car elsewhere for a fix/2nd opinion

the very least this transmission place should do is flatbed the car to their shop and give you a rental to get you back and forth... you need to ask them why they didn't throughly test drive the car before they gave it back to you

and you need to ask yourself why you took the car home if you knew the problem existed to that extent.... because the repair shop is gonna deny there was a problem until after you drove it for such a while.... regardless though, you tell them you have a warranty from them to fix the issue, no matter what it cost.... and for them to say they shoulda charged u OVER $5grand, tell them to bite your johnson and just fix the darn thing, it's obvious they didn't know much about this transmission; so what if it was some other ZF tranny, they shoulda called you to say they couldn't handle it before they took all apart!!!
