Can someone please tell me if an 00 A8 has shifter cables, or does it all work electronicallly? If there are cables, could bad ones cause the car to stay in reverse after one moves the lever from reverse to drive?
Thanks!
Thanks!

if you are talking throttle cables...only the 97-99s were drive by cable...the 00-03 are drive by wire...ie electronic throttle (IIRC)

Thanks Paul and KYNZ. What I said is probably confusing because I don't know that much about cars. The other day I put my car in drive and it accelerated backwards! Someone suggested to me that it could be a worn cable? Paul, I guess that you're suggesting that it may be a bad switch?

Could that be it?
What did the shifter position indicate on the dash? I bet it was in reverse.

But I don't think it could.....but I can't remember exactly what the mechanical stops do in the transmission.
He will post tonight I'm sure. I would think you would have a fault code, check engine light or PRND32 would light up if you did have that problem.
