Plus the 04 is heavier and bigger. The S8 drives like a much smaller car.

Default I had the same dilemma
I test drove an '04 A8L and it was a beautiful car. All the electronics(Nav, backup camera, great stereo, etc.) and a huge back seat. The price was $37000 from the dealership without CPO warranty. It was very comfortable to drive but not very sporty. I ended up getting an '01 S8 because it was much better to drive and the kids are still small so they do not need quite as much room. Now, an '07/'08 S8 is a different story...

Default Simple, took it in, they gave me a loaner, replaced the cat for FREE and I was done....
Very impressed actually! And believe it or not, I think I am getting a bit better mileage now that the car can breathe a little easier....

Default Wunder what cooked 'em - not really a common failure. Was car running rich at some point?
