An 05' A8L really as quick as an 03' S8?
The model guide lists the 0-60 times for an the 2005 A8L as 6.3sec. Same time listed for a 2003 S8.
With the extra weight of the A8L and the 335 vs 360 HP engines, I am surprised. I find it hard to believe, actually.
Anyone driven both? Do the new A8s feel as quick as an S8?

You are not the only one who has a hard time believing that.

If it comes through, you can fully expect a detailed Paul report on it if ya'd like 8-).
REAL nice f'n cars.

I was hoping that Randy has clocked his at the track!
CAR Magazine was showing the D2 S8 at 5.7sec, if I'm not mistaken, but it's possible that this was on a manual EU model. From the seat of my pants, I'm sure the S8 w/ the auto tranny is at max a 6.0sec car, if not below that.
Keep in mind, though, that 0-60mph figures depend on road, tire and launch conditions. Ie, you'd want to keep your foot on the brake, get the revs up to 4K+ and then release and launch. Would anyone want to fry their clutches doing this? I don't think so. Only journos do it.

As if we're going to believe everything that they write ... :)
" Meanwhile, all of this is attended by an exhaust note right out of a Bocelli aria -- half Lotus Esprit V-8 wail, half Mustang Cobra ballsy bellow. True aural inspiration. "
My Saab Aero's exhaust provides better 'aural inspiration' than the S8's.
