Default Not sure about your year of A8, but a tech note is out on:

On a few occasions the remote control would not unlock the car - had to manually unlock the car with the key in the door.

It is not the remote. It is the antenna on at least my 1998 A8.

I am glad you enjoy your A8. I know how you feel about:

This is an extraordinarily fun car to drive.

Take care.

Default Doesn't this concern you:

The dealer was unable to find any problems causing these minor problems. I have seen these same issues posted by others on this forum.

It seems to be an issue with SOME dealers.

Default I have 8,000 miles on my '04, and only once I had that problem where the remote would not unlock the

door. Funny thing was, I don't have a key hole on any of my doors, but I was able to unlock the car using the trunk key hole. When this had happened, I had never activated my On-Star. Once I got in the car though I immediately hit the On-Star button and registered so they could at least unluck the car for me in an emergency. I put the malfunction down to the area I had parked though. In this same area, I usually get bad radio reception on one particular station and my mobile phone cuts out near there too. It was near these radio towers in the Roxbourough section of Philly.

Never experienced that trunk problem.

I've had minor issues though that I will put up with because of how much I enjoy this car.

Recently Audi sent me a letter and followed it up with a phone call, telling me there is a problem with the height regulator of the car and it will be replaced under some type of recall. I don't have a problem with mine though, so I'll wait to get it addressed at the 10,000 mile service.
