The clutches are worn to the minimum and that increases the clearances. ZF has much higher clearances to begin with. Big clearance helps for smooth shifts, but increases the seal wear. There is a time limit for the shift. Bigger clearance require more time to fill the clutch with fluid, but there is no more time so it feels weird on the end of the shift. You are very lucky to have your tranny running as it is. I just rebuilt a 98' with 96K miles. Because of the tiny seals and O-rings in the tranny anything over 100K is a bonus.

I did that mod years ago when some Brazilian techs of mine changed it to their language to joke with me. I then had to deal with a scumbag service advisor who charged me to put it in german.. ah the years before we all owned vag com software setups
