Default It's a switch inside the door in the lock assembly

I've looked at the Bently, the switch for the back doors (and front) is inside the door, but I don't know if it's mechanical or a proximity switch.

Here's the lock assembly and location:

The Bently states:

Door contact switch, removing and installing

The door contact switches for inside light control are part of the door look assemblies and cannot be replaced separately.

- Remove and replace door lock.

I bet you could repair it.....who wants to do it and take pictures? My left rear door switch is gone, the right rear goes in and out.

No, just the red lights on the backs of the doors stopped working on 2 doors.

If it doesn't turn on the interior lights when the doors are open, you will have the disco effect

I'm experiencing the strobe effect on the rear left door of a 1998 A8. Any ideas on the cause/solution?
