1997 A8 Transmission Limp Mode INCORRECT GEAR RATIO?

OK, thanks, but mine will drive all day, highway speed, whatever, in top gear, obviously slow take off (no matter which actual forward gear is selected) just like a one speed with a torque convertor. The only sound is when it goes into Limp mode after you press the gas a bit, when just beginning to move forward. It catches just a bit, like it's going to work, before going into Limp. Reverse works totally like normal. I guess it's just time to pull it out and open it up.

and then Clunk and eng rev. You could of drop one of the other parts. But I would not drive it and I would pull it apart if I was you. More things broke and were scored other then just that one clutch A housing. so to save on cost pull now and repair.

Haha...well I have to admit, I did hear the TC clunk/drop out described, one time, a few months back (when I was driving) and didn't check it out (I've never owned an automatic Audi before this one, and didn't know about these issues), so I have to blame myself. Thanks to all, for all the info. & response.
