Hey , recently purchased a one owner audi a8 4.2L Quattro. I just spent 1800 dollars on maintainence and drivin about 5000km's on it. One thing my mechanic couldn't manage to fix was the transmission cutting when accelerating between 30-40km on 2-3 gear. It is really getting to me and i wanted to know what my options are. The Torque Converter was recently replaced(20000-30000km's ago) and i did a full transmisison flush(11 litres+Filter replaced) and that didn't seem to help either. I also got a vagcom and wanted to know if i could reset the transmission settings or sometihng through that. I really love the car and it's treating me well , other then this one issue. I was reading online and this is a very common issue , but unfortunately everyones advice was to just get a rebuild on the TC which has recently been done. Any other small tricks before i gotta drop that type of money? Thanks in advance.

Try and resetting your ecu by putting your positive and negative battery terminal together. Leave them together overnight while the car sits, this will do a hard reset on all of your electronics. Audi's need to be relearned when driving the car, it will adapt itself to your style of driving. Your problem sounds like it may be valve body related. Sometimes torque converters do come faulty, almost all torque converters are not in fact new, but rebuilt. So errors do happen. I would recommend calling Kirt Koeller @ Auto Sports Unlimited. They are a ZF distributor as well as Audi gurus when it comes to transmission issues. The guys over there should be able to tell you exactly whats going on right over the phone.

Hopefully you don't need a complete reman, I'm sure its something simple.
Good luck and let us know how it goes!
