1998 and 2002 have different battery?

Long story short is that my 1998 is being bought by the insurance company, and I wanted to put my nearly new battery from my 98 in my new (to me) 2002. However they appear to be different sizes and the 2002 has a large bracket that would keep the 1998 battery from being installed in the 2002.
the 19998 battery is flat with the truck floor with a cover. the 2002 battery sticks up and has no cover, and although there is a vent tube, the installed battery does not have a vent.
would it be feasible to remove the bracket in the 2002 and use the 1998 battery? Then I'd have a nice closed storage space in the passenger side for my jumper cables and air pump.
