Default 1998 or '99 A8

I am looking at purchasing either a '98 or '99 A8 and wanted to know if there is much of a difference in equipment of reliability. Does the '98 have the same tiptronic transmission as the '98?

Thanks in advance

I thought the '99 & '98 were identical, '00 was the refresh.

Thanks for the words. So all the running gear should be the sameoutside of the suspension? Were there any problems with the '98 that were corrected in the '99? There seems to be a big difference in the resale value of the 2 years and if there's not much of a difference I'm thinking I go for the '98.
Thanks again.

Default What is more aluminum in suspension?

The upper and lower arms are all aluminum on my 97, what else did they add as aluminum?

The ConsumerGuide review of the '97-'01 A8's says "1999: Nothing of consequence was new for 1999 in Audi's premium sedan, again offered in A8 3.7 form with front-drive, or as the A8 4.2 with Quattro all-wheel drive."

Default Model year is one of the re-sale value variables......

.....if you are going to keep the car 'till it dies then I'd go for the '98.
