Hello
Can anyone on the list give me some insight as to the actual value of road force balancing 20" wheel and tires for my 2000 A8. I am about to install 20 x 9 (f) and 20 x 10 (r) Lorinser 2 piece LM6's with 255/35/zr20 (f) and 285/30/zr20 (r) G Force TA KDW's. The car has Eibachs with bilstien shocks. Another option I was given was to "on car" balance the wheel/tire package. Any insight would be very much appreciated.

Road force variation balancer, the Hunter DSP9500 machines, puts a rubber wheel on the tire and rim combo to simulate the wheel & tire under load. This can pick up variations in tire structure that a normal balancer cannot see.
The only benefit of force variation is that you can match mount the tires and wheels. In other words, the balancer can look at the wheel and tire independently and recommend the best spot to mount each tire reletive to each wheel.
Now the on the car balancer balances the wheel and tire combo on the car so you balance the whole wheel, tire, and hub assembly. This method will yield the best ride but once you take a wheel off the car, the wheel has to be rebalanced evertime, no mather what.
The value of road force is IMOH, a toss up.How much extra do they want to road force the tires? Will they match mount the tires?
