20" wheels
Hi,
Does anyone know if 20"x8 Rims will fit a `97 4.2Q. How tight to the body / running gear are they....What size tyre is best...
Much appreciated in advance...
Cheers
Chris

An 8" wheel is too narrow.
255/35-20 (my summer tire) is the correct diameter for a 20" wheel, but the 255/35-20 requires an 8.5" minimum wheel width to avoid damaging the tire. Also, the offset of the wheel should be 35-40.
This is 255/35-20 on a 20x9 ET39 wheel.

Either 20x9 or 20x9.5 is OK
An ET39 wheel offset is probably ideal to avoid clearance problems. Especially in the front, 35-40 would be fine with the 9" wheel, but try to hit 38-39 with the 9.5" wheel.
I have no experience with deep dish wheels (ET > 40 on the 9") in the rear, but you'd need to use the Wheel Offset Calculator and carefully measure how much space you have before you hit a suspension element.
And a 20" wheel will not break the wheel bearings or damage an A8/S8 any more than a 16" wheel.
