Default 2000 A8 Transmisssion Flush Questions!

Hi Everyone!
I'm a very proud and happy owner of 2000 A8. But recently, I've experienced few "thumps" from the transmission so I talked to one of the service advisors @ Danbury Audi in CT.
Of course, they didn't want to perform a transmission flush in the first place but I called AOA and worked it out for myself. However, when I got a call back from them, they said it will cost about 650~700 to do a flush, which I think is a gang rip off.

So here are my questions :
1) What is a reasonable price for a full transmission flush?
2) Will it solve my thump issue?
3) If anyone is from CT/NY/NJ, please tell me any trustworthy shop where they will perform a transmission fulsh @ a reasonable cost.

Many Thanks!

Default I really really like my independent shop on the Avon/Canton line...I know it is

not that close to you but if want call Mark at Automobile Associates. You can tell him I referred you to him. He is more than willing to talk to you over the phone and you can relay your problems to him and he will discuss with you. 'vonbottle' over on the c5 board has also used them and is very happy. Their phone number is 860-693-0278

Default Should cost about tree fiddy, as the AWOTers say.

Make sure they do it per the audipages instructions. It probably won't fix any thumps unless you're currently low on fluid.

Default Thanks Paul, appreciate the endorsement. "htko4316", email me offline. There's an adaption that

can be run on the facelift cars that will help the "coming to a stop" thump. If it's thumping between gears/shifting, a filter/fluid change might/might not help.

Default Bob, can you give me more info on this adaptation?

I sometimes have the 2-1 thump when in D. I think a lot of Audis have it. TIA!

Default yes, but have to give credit to MP4.2 for sending me this a while ago. He's been on/off the forum

here before (pretty sure he has an A6 not an A8). Anyway, this has worked great for me on both my cars.

Symptoms are a late shift when coming to a stop. If you have any play on the driveline you'll also get a "clunk" as well. I was told that the reset might last a couple of hundred miles and then need to be done again. That appeared to be true but now I swear the change is starting to "stick". I haven't done it in at least 1,500 miles.

Engine Mode - measuring blocks
Group 060
Switch to Basic Settings
"Adp ok"

You'll hear a couple of clicks and you're done. Give it a shot, it was a dramatic and immediate improvement for me.

Default Thanks, I'll try that out.

Although I rarely notice the problem since I usually drive in Tip mode.
