Default Do you remember who made those?

I couldn't find it with a search, but IIRC he used emachineshop. Using their CAD software, he uploaded a drawing of the block for a quote.

Default Nothing. That ESCORT on the other hand 8-)...

The whole point was that it was UNCANNY how many UrS owners first had Sciroccos (mind bending amount, most of whom apparently also delivered pizza in them???).

I had an '81 in college, not as much a fan of Gen II's but they're all neat nonetheless.

Default yeah, probably

below $20k, which is why I'm in the market for one

I've already looked at a few and the dealers have too much in them to even make much of a profit. The worst one was being listed as high as $28,995 and then down to $24,995 since it wouldn't move, and they had $23,700 into it after the trade-in number and the repairs/maintenance to put it on the lot.

If they have it on the lot for 2-3 months, I bet they're taking a loss on it just to move it out of the way for cars that can make a profit.

I can see the high mile cars starting to break into the high teens, dealers selling at low 20s, and the CPO's in the high 20s. $30k+ only for the perfect '03s, and even that might be hard to get in a year, especially with the D3s being purchased right now and the supply of D2s coming in from those buyers.

Default Prices are already close to that....

I got my '01 S8 with 55k miles, every option except Alcantara, no CPO for $21,500 a few months ago.

Great car for the money.
