Looking to purchase a CPO 2001 S8 and gather that there may be some differences between the 2002 & 2003 cars after reading this board.

02 had the addition of an in-dash cd changer (new radio). Hmmm. Not sure what else.

03 had three 'special' colors and interiors. All three are beautiful.

Can't think of anything else right now... I'm sure others will fill in all the things I missed though. Good luck. You'll be happy with the S8. Great car.

Also new in '02 was a "sport" mode gear replacing standard low gearing on the trans, as well as radio controls on the steering wheel. I believe only 300 '03s came stateside, 100 in each of the three limited edition color options (brilliant black/amaretto, ming blue/oyster, and silver/burgundy).

Go for the 2003...I recently sold my 2003 ming blue/platinum...it was a beautiful car inside and out. As there were only 300 brought over there are also audi exclusive headrests, the colors which you know about, special wheels, and the other things mentioned above. I have forgotten the rest. It was/is a superb car. I have photos if u want me to post them here...I would never have traded it in had it not been for that w12 phaeton calling me...

By silver do you mean 'Platinum' , kind of a gunmetal grey of sorts? I believe that color made it to S8s, but never to A8s

yes, it was the ming blue/platinum combination - one of 3 that were available for the 2003 S8.

Lash, I appreciate your input. In making my decision on a 2001 I wanted to do my DD for that model year to make certain that the 2002 2003 models did not differ significantly.

Also 03's seem to be about 10k more for the same car. Just the 01's have a bit higher mileage and are obviously 2 years older
