Default 2004 18" Rim picture :MBDefector / Adaptive Cruise as dealer option?

18" rims / MBDefector: click the URL for a real life picture of the beautiful 18" rims (picture from this forum, sorry I don't know the ref.#).

I saw these 18" rim on 4 silver A8Ls parked at Audi HQ Michigan -- b e a u t i f u l. The spokes have a mild convex shape from side to side / not flat like the old 17" 5 spoke. (see the shadow lines where the spoke meets the outer rim) Very very nice. They look huge to me. (I ordered the 17" with the option to trade-up).
---------

I phoned Audi and asked for them to offer Adaptive Cruise Control as a dealer option for the early cars. They already offer Satellite Radio as a dealer option until Audi routinely install it at the port/harbour.

My thinking is that radar cruise is just a grille mounted sensor and a software update. Remember dealers where able to install ESP on early TTs, so I am hoping Adaptive Cruise should be easy (3 screws, connect a wire, update the software) .... what do you think.

Do you know if this will work? Will anyone else contact Audi to let them know you also want this option?

http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/51439/a8_18.jpg</a

My dealer told me that there is a "problem with the adaptive cruise" because it may conflict with some Police Departments laser/radar. Audi says they are doing further R&D on the systems before it can be released as an option.

Default Installing the ESP on early TTs required the car go

to a special tech center and get rewired. The dealerships installed the suspension changes and wing.

However, AoA is pretty receptive to written requests. If you ( and a number of other folks ) make a request in WRITING ( on paper ), it often shows up in the mid-year model order guides or in the following year order guides. I have heard that it might show up as a late introduction item.

Thanks for the post FrequentBuyer, these look nice from waht I can see in the picture. Wish those beautiful 12-spokers came on 18" wheels, but these look nice also.

I'll write AoA about adaptive cruise as well. Wish there was something they could do about advance key, too, but becuase of its prominence on the center console, not likely an aftermarket install item.
