I bought my 2002 S8 on Aug 31st, and last week it had to go in for a new tranny. I searched high and low for a S8 that didn't have a rebuilt or a new tranny, and the one I found had to have one anyway. Any thoughts on why it is almost every S8 out there has a new or rebuilt tranny?

The consensus has been that the failure rate on 2000's and up has been very low. According to ZF, they made quite a few changes along the way. I'm wondering how this will hold up over time as age/mileage increase...

The car has about 55k right now. And I was literally looking for about 3 months for a S8, and everyone that I found had a replaced or rebuilt transmission.
