2000 A8, need TB done, already did the AT fluid flush and fill at 80k along with a change of all the fluids I could get to (brake, coolant, ATF, oil twice, PS,).
Anything else I should do? Obvious suggestions are welcome.
TIA
Tom

Make sure that they do not charge you more than 1 hour extra labor.
Some places will just look in "the book" and ad up whatever hours it says for each particular job, not taking in consideration that they already did most of the work on the first job.
Here is how I would go about doing it.
AFTER getting the estimate for the TB job, say:
"Hey since you are already in there why don't you replace the water pump and thermostat too, there is not much more labor for that right?
Worked for me anyways.

That way when your engine gets destroyed Audi will give you a new one.
Do not mean to offend the mechanics on the board but any number of things can go wrong and cause engine damage when the car is started. I know first hand. I got lucky and got a new engine at 90k.
Good luck

I don't know if she can get the water pump for you, but the stealer charges somewhere around $350 for the water pump alone. She use to charge something like $34, now it's $64, but that's for the ABZ engine, which you don't have.
I don't think dealers mind if you bring in your own parts...and if you don't have everything or you got something wrong...they'll have it.

Depends on what you choose to believe. Either the new timing belt was defective which bent all the valves on one side of the engine, followed by defective new valves which sheared off after less then 5 minutes of run time and wiped out pistons and cylinder walls, or the mechanic had a couple of really bad days. Either way the dealer replaced all parts, with labor, without a word of complaint from me. The new valves were $2,000, cylinder head was $4,000 and the short block was $13,000, plus the labor to install all of it. All covered by the dealer, or their insurance company.
