I just bought a 1997 A8 Quattro, the shifter wont come out of park. I have my foot on the brake pedal, brake lights come on the back of the car, and still the shifter won’t move. On my instrument cluster underneath the mileage, it does say in 2nd and blinks. How do I go about fixing this?

Hi, Is the car parked on a slope? If the car has rolled after park was selected it can be very difficult to move shifter. If thts the case you may have to carefully tow the car towrds its original position to release. If thats not the case there is usually a way to manually release the parking lock if electrical opertion from footbrake fails but you will have to wait for someone more expert with Audi than me to come along.
