<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/105440/transmissionservice.jpg"></center><p>I am deep into the transmission service from audipages on my 1997 Audi A8Q. The original filter has an oval hole on the bottom side about 1 inch by three inches. The new filter, which looks like the one from the audipages instructions, has a round tube jutting out about an inch and a half from the bottom of the filter. Everything else about the two filters is identical. The problem is with the new filter in place, I can't bolt the transmission pan back to the bottom of the engine. Should I just hack the plastic spout off of the bottom of the filter? The hole is only about a third of the size of the original hole.

It is very strange. The 97' has the deeper pan, so the longer pickup tube needed. Post facelift tranny's have 13mm shallower pan. What is your tranny code? There is a name plate on the driver's side of the tranny right front of the axle. It should be a 3 letter code.

The new filter is the O1L 325 429 A. Does that A matter? The oval hole looks like the 3.7 filter? The bottom of my transmission pan is flat.
