Default 97 Audi A8 w/121k mi

I am in a market for used A8 and wondering if I can get some help.
I found one 97 with 121k miles. Pearl White Blk interior. New tranny was installed 109k mi. Also timing belt, water pump, and tensioner was replaced at the same time. Also the steering rack was replace year ago. Brand new tires, and service record. He is asking 11.9k Is this reasonable price?

Default I think so given the work done. Get some price references at traderonline.com

I have a '97 A8 Quattro that has 172k miles and I paid $9k (with 162k miles) after 8k miles I paid $4500 for a new transmission, and have spent $500 on miscellaneous items. In my opinion, if the car has records of said work then the price seems fair. ONLY because the new tranny has been installed. W/out the new transmission it is probably worth around $10k. IMHO. Good Luck.
Sounds like a nice car. Any accidents or new paint? Look hard.

Default $8k plus Transmission - LOL!

I would say $11.9 is a fair price if the owner just invested $3-6k on a transmission. My main concern would be the warranty on the transmission. If you feel like you are buying a car with a new transmission, it's well worth the current owners investment in the car.

If you dont have a receipt or warranty, you dont know the extent of the repair. Are you going to be able to find a 97 740 or 97 S420 at this price? In it's class, this car is a steal on the used car market. Pearl White is an awesome color on Audis too! If you add up all the receipts in the last year, you may be getting the car for $5k plus the owners cost to keep it running over the past year. Also, you could be good for 50k or two to three years with minimal maintenance based on the recent repairs.
