The panel screws are now exposed.
It was while attempting to reinstall the headliner that I broke the rain channel.
I now know that the best way to remove it and re-install it is with the panel removed. Trying to coax it out the back with the panel tilted up was nothing but trouble for me.
Does the rain channel you grabbed have the "clips" bentley refers to that attach it to the "guide piece"? I threw my old one out, so I'm hoping I still have the parts.

I, doh!, backed up into a #$%! scourge-of-the-earth pickup truck (rear chrome bumper) and cracked the lens that fits around trunk lock. I was busy looking in another mirror. The truck was the same colour as the interior head liner. I was moving so slowly that if it was any other vehicle, the result would have been no damage at all - bump.
