Default 99 A8 Trans Codes 17114 and 17087

I have a 1999 Audi A8 138k mi, In July 2010 i purchased a rebuilt transmission it was installed at 127,215mi. Last month, I had went to start the car to go to work, and BAM! limp mode. I had read the codes and it was originally only throwing P0730/17114 Gear Ratio Incorrect and P0703/17087 Brake Switch 2 Circuit Malfunction. Now I cleared the codes and the car drove fine, for about 20 minutes, I had kept it parked because cash and time arent friendly these days, so I had just had i towed to Glen Burnie Transmission, and they advised that it was 2 qts low on fluid and that the TCC was noisy (which it has always been since it was installed) Do I need another transmission or does this sound like a moderate fix without having to dismantle the entire car again?

Sound like you need a new filers. The TCC doesn't make noise. if it does then it throws a code.

filers? How involved is the job? Is it something that involves removing the entire transmission?

Ok so today i picked up the car... it was in limp mode as soon as I put it into D. reverse does not go into Limp at all. I drove it to the gas station turned it off and turned it back on... I took off out into traffic and it drove fine, went thru all the gears as it should, even used tiptronic, however once I let off the gas and it slowed to around 25mph it went into Limp.. repeated a few times and parked it... I just wanna be sure this definitely sounds like filters, I am going to order the kits from that link you posted if so.. Thanks!

That link is dead now. You can get the filter kit on ebay. I would just check the level. If it is fine then put it in tip and start driving it. Try to accelerate hard in 1st then 2nd then 3rd. It will slip in one of those gears.

Well did as you said, it did have trouble in just about every gear. it threw multiple codes throughout the day. these codes are in the order they came up on the Vag.

1/5
17114/P0730 Gear ratio incorrect

2/5
17145/P0761 Shift Solenoid C:90N performance or Stuck Off (this reoccured mutliple times)

3/5
17117/P0733 Gear:3 ratio incorrect

4/5
17119/P0735 Gear:5 ratio incorrect

5/5
17118/P0734 Gear:4 ratio incorrect

After resetting them the only ones that came back on were
17114, 17145, and sometimes 17117.

Besides filters is it possible the solenoids could have an issue?

[QUOTE=RJLadd;24120892]it did have trouble in just about every gear.

let me clarify, it did have trouble if driving froma slow start, but once on the highway. it had no rpoblem at all, no shift issue nor tiptronic.

I also noticed (on my way home) that if i drive in normal D and put it in neutral before coming to a stop then shifting back into D at take off, no issues at all also. ... Just wanted to clarify
