Default A8 brake bleed

I have a 1997 A8 4.2 Quatro can I bleed the brakes without a VAG-COM?

The only thing you can't do is run the ABS pump to remove any air that might be trapped in it, but that's normally not a problem.

I just did mine a week ago the "traditional" way with the help of my wife ( she was pumping the brakes )
Paul Waterloo has an excellent description of the procedure on the Audipages.You don't need the Vag-Com unless you also want to cycle the ABS unit to get the fluid out of it.
