Default A8 brake shake?

We have this A8 that warps rotors frequently! It currently has new factory rotors and pads (Ferodo), new lower thrust arms (w/bushings) and tierod assemblies. When it has fresh brakes or turned rotors it's good for a awhile but then starts to shake again. Everything seems tight in the front end and the calipers aren't stuck. The car drives perfectly until light braking.

I've seen quite posts in the other forums saying that once a rotor warps, turning it is a wasted effort, and it'll very quickly warp again. The best procedure is to replace the rotors, as you've done.

Turning rotors is best reserved for light resurfacing only, but even then, they'll be more vulnerable to warping in the future. These brakes are not particularly over-designed, and removing any mass from the rotor result in higher rotor temps with the same braking.

Is this the first set of new rotors, or does this A8 regularly warp new rotors also?

We have tried 2 sets of rotors and pads, the first set from the aftermarket (rotors looked to be same quality as OE and pagid pads). The second set came from the dealer and were Ferodo pads. Same results both times. When we resurface it is only a few thousandths and each set has only been turned once. This is a '97 model year and the EPC only lists one part # for these rotors no matter the year! The rotors seem to have a blue tint after being run awhile but the calipers are free and the driver knows how to brake properly!

The Ferodo pads came from the dealer and the Pagid's came from a warehouse dist. I am sure both would be considered street compound! Do you know of other manufactures making pads that fit the A8? I have not seen any other than these.

Your experience with warped rotors apparently is not new to the 8. My wife (who's not exactly a road burner) has had almost as many sets of rotors replaced on her car than she's had oil changes.

After my car sat at the airport parking lot for two weeks, I got into my 2000 A8 and I thought the wheels were going to break off. Terrible shutter, and now after reading all of these comments, I am insisting on new rotors and pads on my 47K miles car. I am very suprised there has not been a warrenty recall, especially with a safety related systems.
