All right friends, let's be honest here, are the factory A8 brakes undersized for you? Maybe I am too German and maybe I am spoiled, but brother, for 310 HP and 4000 LBS I think we need a little bigger diameter. Bring it on... .

it will cost you about $2k and the rear is still stock. It just amazes me that there is no more discussion about these weak brakes... . I think my German moped had better brakes.... . Hey, I love that A8 just pushing your buttons a little..., take it easy on me... .

Every car I've ever owned had "undersize" brakes. The only vehicle I've had that had great brakes was my F250, 13" in front, 12" in back. But then, it is rated to tow 9,000 pounds and weighs 4400 itself.
Rear brakes are really only to control the rear and keep it from coming around on you. Your front brakes do 70-80% of the work (especially with the engine over the front wheels). Also size isn't everything. Show me a 294mm with a single piston caliper, and I'll show you a 276mm with a dual piston caliper that outperforms the bigger rotor.
I've seen 6 and 8 piston calipers, but two or four is probably most cost effective. If I were to upgrades the brakes on my 98, I would probably upgrade the calipers, not the rotors.
