On the 1997 A8 headlights, which light is which. Which bulb is in the projector type housing. The low or the high. Which bulb is exposed. I am deployed to Iraq, so I do not have my vehicle to confirm. I am looking to purchase a HID kit. If you have pics of the assembly that would help too. thanks

the low beam is the projector, and is a H1.

Your welcome, I am just doing my job. So If I did the HID conversion, which light would make the most sense? The low beam or high beam. Wihich one would look better and give the most benefit of light? thanks

You don't generally use HIDs on hi-beam, unless they're bi-ax.
HID lighting has a lamp strike time; they don't energize instantaneously, although it's very quick. But not quick enough for a hi-beam flash.
For this reason, most HID implementations use HID for lo-beam (where a couple of seconds to strike isn't an issue), and halogens for hi-beam. The other way it is done, is with a bi-axial projector with a shutter that partially blocks the lamp output. For hi-beam, the shutter is moved out of the way, fully revealing an already lit HID lamp.
Let me know where you find a kit. This is a mod I've been meaning to do for over a year, and haven't gotten around to. Heck, I've got a 20mm rear swaybar I need to install sitting in the garage. Maybe this weekend for that.
I've heard here that MrJung has been a little flakey lately, for HID kits. Unless you know someone who's had a good experience lately, I'd avoid them.

So I will go with the low beam. That is an H-1 bulb, right? Do you think that the xenon will show well. I have found a site, www.xenondepot.com, they are having a sale right now. Everything you need for around $300.00 for a 8000k complete kit. Thanks again for the help.
