Hello,
I sold my 1998 Audi A8 and now have a 2001 A8L and the airbox in my 2001 has an emmissions device that takes up room in the airbox that will not allow me to install this cone filter modification. I would expect that the 1997-1999 would not have this extra component housed in the air filter box so it is a very nice upgrad for these vehicles. If you want to make sure please open your air filter box 1st to make sure.
I am going to list on ebay but thought someone here might want it 1st. I think $100 is a fair price. The filter is clean and not oiled yet so I will send the oil and allow the purchaser to do this. There are basically 3 pieces to this modification, a metal elbow, and a K&N cone filter. No modification is necessary to the airbox it fits inside nicely...you need to use the two screws that fasten the Air Flow Meter to hold the elbow in place.
I also have a Navi C unit already on ebay if you wish to view it see link below.
Sorry for the personal plug but you guys should get first right of refusal ;-)

<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/79649/a82ndary.jpg"></center><p>If it looks like this, that's the secundary air pump. That's what it is in my car anyway.
Imho that could possibly be relocated. As it's in the intake side, it doesn't need to be in the airbox per se I guess... Unless someone can tell us otherwise?
Maybe you could still use it... ;-)
If you don't want the hassle, try the K&N replacement filter, works good as well...
