A8 Nomenclature Observation - D2 / D3
My take is that there aren't enough of us, and won't be any time soon, to justify splitting the A8 board into two boards, one for the D2, one for the D3.
At some point in the not-too-distant future, there will be enough A8-D3 posts/owners, that confusion over which A8 is being discussed will become a problem.
I guess I'm posting this to identify this embryonic problem so we can discuss / generate some ideas on keeping things straight.
One idea - indicate model year or platform in every post, or at least the originating post on a thread, so that readers know which car is being discussed.
Your thoughts?

Re: Let's not split this forum please...your about to add many more to the forum,
like myself whom is trading up to the A8L from my 2000 A6 4.2 in which the lease ends next month. I feel that the A8 board will be getting a lot more posters whom have had it with the MB & BMW dealers arrogance and this will be the forum with the biggest increase in new Audiphiles. This will be a fun place to be and hopefully the D3 will bring new respect to the A8 line adding to the D2's value and residuals.

I agree with those suggesting NOT to split for D2/D3, AND have a question
regarding the D2 platform....Are all of the issues discussed on this forum applicable to ALL model years '97-'03?? IE: are the trannies the same, etc. What major design or component changes were made from '97-'03? Perhaps we should make an effort to report the model year we are discussing as well as the platform number.
