Default A8/S8 Repair Manual on CD; Parts?; Quattro Club?

I just ordered an A8/S8 repair manual on CD ($120)from Audi Tech Pubs. Paper version was $400+.

Anyone have experience with the A8/S8 CD?

They told me it would take 3 weeks to produce (!?)
Wonder if its encrypted or something.

I have used the paper R.Bentley books on previous Audi's. They're fairly good, though poorly organized.

Any good places to buy mail order Audi parts? Dealers are far away (150 - 200 mi) from me.

Is the Quattro club worthwhile?

Tks,

John

The A4 Bently CD was hard to use, but was filled with useful information once you get used to it. It does take a while to find the right information and print them out for ease of use. I imagine that the A8 one would be similar to the A8. I'm considering buying the A8 one. Please let us know if the CD is worth-while. thanks!

I'll give you a book report...

I was hoping that the CD would be a better job than the paper books. Probably the same editors.

Tks,

Default Quattro Club? Yes ...

... especially if you ever might take your A8 to the track.

The Quattro Club puts on VERY well organized track events, on the best road courses in the country, at a bargain price. On top of all that, you get to meet your fellow Audi fanatics, good folks all.

Default Try www.alldatadiy.com

The Bently won't be ready until next Spring? That's what the web site says. I didn't know you could buy a manual from Audi. I got mine at www.alldatadiy.com. If you have a cable modem or DSL, it's great.

There are all the codes (I have the ross-tech software, a must if you want to work on the car), and it's esentially a Audi manual pirated and put on line. It's $24.95 a year and has everything there.

Try Clair or Carlsen depending on where you are, you can find there numbers at audifans.com under vendors. I would stick with dealer parts, and they offer a deep discount.

Thanks, Randy.

I will sign up!. Let's see, that will make Ducati club, PCA, BMWCCA, and Quattro club - lots of newslatters...

And, I've been thinking. Maybe we should just swap cars, rather than just parts of cars. Are you game?

I agree with Randy's recommendation about joining the Quattro Club. Pretty good quarterly magazine!

I also get Audi Driver from the UK. They have a lot of good stuff on Audi models we don't see here in the US (or see much later). I picked up a copy on the newstand one day and wound up subscribing.

Default Am I game? Well ...

... we could discuss it at the track. I'll be at the April 27/28 Quattro Club "Driver School" at Gratton Raceway in Michigan.

If you could possibly make it, Im sure you'd enjoy driving your A8 (or your BMW?) there. Grattan's my all-time favorite track, though I've never driven there, only crewed. Darn, April is such a long time from now.

Default Grattan is Great!

Hi Randy:

I went to a Ducati Club of Canada meet at Grattan some years ago. V nice track.

Who knows; April might work, if you're still keen on trading Audi's. Most of my track stuff these days is in a '72 911S or '73 916 track car. I live in Wilminfton, NC. Generally just local PCA/SCCA events and the like.

I sent to Quattro Club today for membership, BTW.

Regards,

John
