If i put it in manual and run the gears out a little more not as bad. ? torque converter, or should I do the transmission recode. I am not giving up on this car after seeing all the 200k post and mine has 100k. I need to be at carisle with this car on the 17 and 18th of May

Default Describe the symptom another way.

How does a transmission "stutter".

Do you have Vag-com?

Trying to see the light at the tunnels end.

Default I have a similar problem...have lived with the "shudder" for about 4 months now.

Have 90k on my 98 A8. Recoded the tranny. Dealer did the fluid/filter at 48k for me. Anyway, the "shuttering" (almost like violent hunting)ONLY happens in 2nd gear between 1700 & 2100 rpm's if I need to accelerate up an incline OR give it a generous amount of gas on a level surface in 2nd in that rpm range, otherwise she still runs great. For now I try my best to avoid those situations, usually by keeping the rpm's above 2100 until I figure this out. The transmission output flange seal is currently leaking, but I doubt that could be related.

Any thoughts?

Second gear needs a lot of fluid. Check the fluid level and put a bottle of Lubeguard in it.

Default Hmmmm. Never knew that about 2nd gear. Makes sense considering my problem.

I ordered a filter and atf last week. Just have to find some lubeguard. As always I appreciate your input. Thanks.

Tozo

You made no comment about this little device, Might it up line pressure for those who could use a bit faster engagement?

Wouldn't it be nice to "hack the code" of the TCM ;-)

Default The 4HP22EH never been used in Audi.

They are from the late 80's early 90's BMW and Land Rover. Most of them had a governor to shift. Late model Audi/BMW (late 90's to today) run high line pressure already. We all know what could happen if someone increase the pressure even more. But hey if they sell it someone must approved it, right?
