The drive shaft was the forward CV joint failure. It looked like the seal failed and all the grease ran out. It wasn't difficult, but with out a proper lift, it was a long day!

Just depends what you like.
I would suggest a so called face lift A8 or 2000+.
A8 probably more of a bargain.
urS's have generally been molested as not to just would not be right.
My .002
For me these days, the cabrio is the right daily driver

Auto trans only vs. manual trans only should spell out the difference!
UR cars are older, so can need more maintenance, but parts are much less expensive, and typical items that go bad are not huge ones like tranny in A8.
If you like modifying your car, go with the Ur, it's turbo and there are a billion tweaks available for it.
If you like a serene, quiet long legged highway battleship, go with A8.
Or if you can't make up your mind, get an S8, like I just did.![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I had an UrS4 (1993) as well as an A8 (2000). I relpaced my '93 with the 2000.
The A8 is as fast in a straight line and is much more comfortable for passengers, It will never rust, has a longer life engine (no turbo, less heat), better sound system, and has a more sophisticated drive line.
It also has tranny maintainence issues and many more gizmos to quit working (like power headrests).
All in all I much preffer my A8 to my UrS4 as a daily driver. On the weekends and at the track I like my 1989 911 Turbo.
Good luck, you can't go wrong on wither one if you understand what might go wrong and what they offer in bang for the buck.
