Default ABS and brake light

ok the lights (ABS and the RED BRAKE LIGHT THE ONE THAT SHOWS THAT THE EMERGANCY BRAKE IS APPLIED) still comes on after I cleaned all the abs sensors. The lights do clear after I shut the car off. The brake fluid level is full. The brakes do pulse (abs kicking on) when I do very slow stops once in a while. The lights come on with no common theme. Theyjust come on sometimes but not all times. they never go out unless the car is shut off and turned on again. I think the rear rotors are the reason. they are so low and and the pads are very new. my theroy is that when the brakes are applied the brake fluid drops below low because of hte extra travel of the pads on a worn rotor. anyone else have thoughts on this?? thanks. ALso one more question should any lube be applied to the sensors? one in the front does look a little worn, like it was rubbing. the other front one is brand new and the rears look ok..

The brake has an automatic adjuster. If your rotor is worn it will adjust to the worn rotor, there is no extra travel. If it has extra travel, you would have to pump your brake twice ( first goes in, the second is firm).

I found that there are a few different ways of handling this problem and getting the light to stay off for good. 1) cleaning the sensor can do it for some. 2) If that doesn't work, I found that replacing the wire has worked for me. I cut the wire as close as I could to the sensor leaving enough to work with so I could put in a new wire. The wires get old and crack inside from all the abuse they take every time the steering wheel is turned. Over the years, that constant movement takes it's toll. There's not a whole hell of a lot that can go wrong with the sensor itself. 3) if either of those two procedures do not work, just replace the sensor. You'll be okay until the wire on that one eventually fails as they all do.

Good luck!
