Adding handsfree T730, How does audi connect antenna?
I have a 1998 A8 and am getting ready to install a V60 handsfree module and cradle. I was hoping to install the V60 behind the CD changer like the audi dealer install. Does anyone know how the dealers connect the original antenna to the phone? Does the signal run through the car to the rj45? I find it hard to beleive they run a new line.

Hey PaulW ...
Looking back at your tutorial, I remembered something I thought when I first read it .. is it feasible to put the mic in the shadowy black recesses of the instrument cluster hood, instead of hanging it off of the sunroof control pod?
I bet you wouldn't even see it, tucked in that dark cave.

The original brain box is in the trunk
So if you go behind the CD player, you will find the connector for the antenna. The original brain box just plugged in right there. You could do the same with your new cradle.....but the antenna must be run from inside the car to the antenna in the trunk.
I just did an install on my business partner's 98 A8 (including nav plus). He has a Verizion wireless color flip phone, we bought a kit for it and just bought a 20' cable from radio shack along with a few extra connectors to make it work!
But the signal strength is awesomne!
Here's what we had to do:

And the easiest way to electrically connect the phone kit is right on the back of the radio....you have a Concert, so you can do it this way, if you had a 97, you couldn't:

Good luck!

Re: Here you go.
For the most part I did just finish the install with most of the instructions provided on "audipages". The exceptions I did was to run an antenna extension through the car (pain in ***). I also used the 2 free wires running to the RJ45 to feed the stock microphone. Every install I read never said it would not work, only that it "might" not work because of impedience problems. Well I could not get it to work, no mic sound at all, no feedback, nothing. The mic from the kit works fine. Tomorrow I will try cutting the stock mic and replace it with the kit mic. Has anyone tried this? I suppose audi has the stock mic amped for a reason but I need to try it anyway.
Other than the mic problem I did notice that I could not get the radio on?? Always said "PHONE". I did not drive the car yet but I did start it up and could not get it off "PHONE". Anyone have a possible solution?

the reception is incrediable!!!!!!!!
By the way Paul, you are correct, that reception is incrediable!!!!!!!! I have the hot weather package on my car which is the main reason I did the install. Winter is comming and I do not feel like making calls with the windows down in a blizard.

One other note for those wanting to run the antenna through the car, DON'T turn the car on before you reinsert the airbag electrical clips on the underside of the rear seat. DAMN,DAMN,DAMN. Airbag warning light is not going off now.
Guess it's time to visit the dealer.

Somethings wrong
It sounds like you hooked up the radio mute wire to ground. That's all that the mute does is ground out one pin.
If you did the DB25 jumper, then you could very well have a jumper on the wrong pin. It easy to do, and you think you haven't done it, but you have. Check and check again then resolder it to the correct pin.
Good luck!
