Advise on taking the the lower straight control arm out of the hub assembly.

Default I'd be careful hitting a joint that way if you want to re-use it. Hits along the axis of the bolt

can translate into the joint and possibly damage it. The nut on the end of the threaded section is great for protecting the threads, but the impact forces can be transferred into the ball and socket type joint and possibly damage it. IMHO......
